At Cedarhue Branding, we partner with organizations that want to do more than just put their logo on a product. You want to build deeper connections, inspire loyalty, and recognize what matters. We’re here to help you do just that.

Formerly known as Adirondack Awards & Promotions, our legacy began in 1962 in Lake Placid, NY. Tyler Merriam, MS, MAS

Tyler’s path to leading growth at Cedarhue Branding has been anything but ordinary, and that’s exactly what makes his perspective so valuable to our clients.

With a foundation in outdoor education and a career that’s spanned music performance, nonprofit communications, and specialty retail, Tyler brings both creativity and strategic thinking to every project. He’s led wilderness expeditions, built brand campaigns, and managed outdoor gear shops, all before purchasing Cedarhue to help organizations turn ideas into impactful, tangible brand experiences.

At Cedarhue, Tyler leads project ideation and client experience, combining deep curiosity with an eye for design and storytelling. He’s your go-to guide for turning brand vision into custom merchandise that sparks connection and makes an impression.

When he's not collaborating on your next big idea, Tyler's likely kayaking over waterfalls, biking up and over mountains, or teaching wilderness medicine. He's visited all 50 US states, hiked to Machu Picchu, summited Kilimanjaro and Fuji, and used to have a pet tarantula named Burt Reynolds.

Fun Fact: Kayaked around the island of Manhattan and down the length of the Grand Canyon.

Boring Fact: Finds joy in a perfectly matched pair of socks.

Animal Most Relate To: River otter. Playful, curious, and always prepared.

Nick Prechel, MS

With a diverse background and an unconventional path, Nick brings a rich blend of experiences to his current role. Born in the upper Midwest, raised in western New York, and having spent time in the South, his early life was shaped by movement and adaptability. After earning a degree in Business Administration and working in various positions, Nick completed a transformative year of service with AmeriCorps NCCC, contributing to conservation and humanitarian projects—including critical work on the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina.

This experience led to roles on conservation trail crews in Alaska and Vermont, and eventually to a master’s degree in Recreation Management. His professional journey in conservation work continued across the West, with roles with the United States Forest Service in Colorado and the National Park Service in South Dakota.

In 2022, the opportunity to purchase a small awards and promotions business in Lake Placid, NY marked the beginning of Nick’s entrepreneurial chapter. Today, he draws on his background in leadership, warehouse operations, detailed craftsmanship, financial management, and order fulfillment. He thrives in a role where every day is different and takes great satisfaction in seeing a project from start to finish—especially when the client enjoys the final result as much as he does.

Favorite Destination: New Zealand.

Animal Most Relate To: Any penguin.

Favorite Show(s): The Office, Arrested Development, Game of Thrones.

Unique Fact: Nick backpacked for 35 days in a remote region of Western Australia.

Written by a Colleague: Nick’s superpower is noticing the most novel or humorous details missed by everyone else and bringing them up later at the perfect time!

Amelia Locklear Smith

Amelia is thrilled to be part of the team, working alongside Nick and Tyler. She’s deeply grateful to contribute to a business that celebrates individuals and organizations, making people in the community feel seen and valued every day.

Originally from North Carolina, Amelia spent most of her life exploring its landscapes and those of many other states with family and friends. A proud Tar Heel, she thrived at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied Biology and Graphic Design, competed on the Division I Women’s Rowing team, and met her husband, Davis. Her design work was featured in the Journalism School’s Media Hub, and she explored interdisciplinary innovation through projects like developing a functional 3D-printed microscope.

When the opportunity arose to relocate to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, Amelia discovered an opening at Cedarhue Branding—and her journey into this creative and dynamic field began. Her role is ever-evolving, blending design, craftsmanship, and meaningful recognition. For Amelia, the joy lies in the process of bringing a project to life and knowing it will serve as a lasting reminder of someone’s impact and achievement.

Animal Most Relate To: Beaver, year-round.

Favorite Show(s): Our Planet (Davis Attenborough), The Dutch Farmer (YouTube), and Andor

Fun Fact: She had a chicken named Beezus that lay beautiful blue eggs.

Boring Fact: She likes using steam to clean her home.

Written by a Colleague: Amelia’s communication style of expertly-timed sarcasm is overshadowed only by her unique ability to cut through the mediocre in life and bring out the best in everything and everyone.
